Bulwark Plumbing is a licensed Hurst plumber working from our shop at 720 Industrial Blvd in Grapevine. Much of Hurst was built in the 1950s and 1960s, so most of what a Hurst plumber from our crew does there is sewer and drain lines, cast iron and clay pipe replacement, repipes and water heaters, plus emergency calls around the clock.
Call (817) 677-9010 any hour, or book a window online and have it confirmed on the spot.
Hurst is the western city of the three known locally as HEB, with Bedford and Euless on its east side. North Richland Hills lies to the west, Colleyville to the north, and Richland Hills and Fort Worth along the south. Airport Freeway carries State Highways 183 and 121 through the city and meets Loop 820 on the north side, and Highway 121 also runs up to Grapevine, which is the road a Hurst plumber from our shop on Industrial Blvd uses to get there.
A Hurst plumber call is inside the core area around Grapevine, where the emergency target is a technician on site within 60 minutes. That is a target, so the dispatcher always gives you a real arrival window when you call.
Older ones, mostly. Hurst took its name in 1909 from William Hurst, who gave land for the Rock Island depot, and it was incorporated in 1952 with about 2,700 residents. Then the Bell Helicopter plant opened on the city’s southeastern edge and the town filled in fast: about 10,000 people by 1960 and more than 27,000 by 1970. By the 1970s Hurst had nearly run out of room to grow, and the census has crept up slowly since, to about 40,000 in 2020. The plant is in Fort Worth city limits, but the houses built for its workers are in Hurst.
We are inferring the housing age from that census curve rather than from a published figure, but a city that grows almost tenfold in twenty years and then stops is mostly houses from those twenty years. For a Hurst plumber, that build-out shapes the work in four specific ways:
Old shutoff valves are the small version of the same problem. A gate valve that has not been turned in twenty years may not close, or may start leaking when it is forced, so it is worth having a Hurst plumber check them before the day you need them.

Usually roots in a clay joint or a belly where the ground has settled, and it is the most common reason a Hurst plumber is called to an older house. Roots catch paper and waste and close the line again weeks after it is cleared. A belly holds water and solids instead of draining them. Both come back, which is why a backup on a schedule is a pipe problem and not a household habit.
The order we work in on a recurring backup:
Our sewer camera inspection and hydro jetting page explains the equipment, and why a sewer keeps backing up goes deeper on causes. If you are weighing cleaning methods, hydro jetting vs. a drain snake lays out when each is right.
It depends on what the camera shows, and you should see the footage before you decide. A Hurst plumber should never quote a cast iron replacement off the age of the house alone. One cracked section with sound pipe on either side is a repair. Heavy scale, a pipe wall that has rotted through along the bottom, or failures in several places mean the line is done, and patching it one break at a time will cost more than replacing it once.
Where both are legitimate, a Hurst plumber from Bulwark gives you both prices in writing. Sewer and water line replacement carries a 3 year labor warranty and is permitted and inspected where the city requires it. The drain cleaning page covers the first step, clearing the line so it can be seen.
When the supply side keeps failing. One leak in a sixty year old house is a repair. Corroded galvanized pipe with falling pressure, a second slab leak on the same copper run, or pinholes in different places mean the pipe itself is worn out, and a Hurst plumber should say so plainly.
A Hurst plumber from our crew finds the current leak first, with pressure testing and acoustic equipment, and record where it is. Then you get a written price for the spot repair and, beside it, a price for a reroute or a partial or full repipe in copper, PEX or CPVC, often run through the attic so the slab is not opened. Blackland Prairie clay moves slabs up and down with the seasons, and decades of that is what wears pinholes in copper under the floor. See leak detection and signs of a slab leak for what to watch for.
Water heaters, gas lines, freeze damage and pre-purchase inspections make up most of the rest.
You call (817) 677-9010, a person answers at any hour, and a Hurst plumber is dispatched from the Grapevine shop with an arrival window you hear on the call. The core area target is 60 minutes.
For after hours and weekend calls in general, see the 24/7 emergency plumber page.
Every Hurst plumber job gets a written flat price before any work starts rather than a published number, because an older house decides the price once it is opened up, not before. The diagnostic fee is quoted on the phone before anyone is sent and credited in full if you go ahead. After hours, weekend and holiday rates are disclosed on the same call. Labor carries a 1 year warranty as a baseline, 2 years on water heater and fixture installs, and 3 years on repipes and sewer or water line replacement, with manufacturer warranties registered in your name.
Whoever you hire, make sure the Hurst plumber who arrives is the company you called. Ours are Bulwark employees working under TSBPE license 47173. We do not subcontract and we do not sell leads.
The same Hurst plumber crew covers all of HEB and well beyond it. Bedford and Euless are next door, Colleyville is to the north, and Grapevine is where the shop is. We cover North Richland Hills, Keller and Southlake on the same schedule. In all, the service area is 52 cities within roughly 25 miles of Grapevine, listed on the homepage. Answers to the questions we hear most are in plumbing answers.
Our shop is at 720 Industrial Blvd in Grapevine, and State Highway 121 runs from Grapevine straight down into Hurst, so your Hurst plumber leaves from that shop. The drains and the sewer line first. Cast iron drain pipe was standard until about 1970 and is now past its service life, and clay sewer pipe from that era takes roots at its joints. A Hurst plumber can camera the line from a cleanout and show you the footage, which tells you more than any guess based on the age of the house.
In an older house it is usually roots in a clay lateral or a section of line that has settled and holds water. Both come back after the line is cleared, so a Hurst plumber should camera it after cleaning it, find the cause, record where it is, and give you a written price to fix it.
Some may. Galvanized steel was a common supply pipe in houses of the 1950s, and it rusts from the inside, which shows up as low pressure and discolored water. Many have already been repiped. A Hurst plumber can tell you what is in your walls by looking where the line enters the house and at the water heater.
When the same system keeps failing, a Hurst plumber will usually say yes. One leak is a repair. Repeated leaks, low pressure from corroded pipe, or failing joints mean the pipe is worn out. We repipe in copper, PEX or CPVC, often through the attic so the slab is not opened, and repipes carry a 3 year labor warranty.
Sewer replacement, repipes, gas work and water heater replacement are permitted and inspected where the city requires it. Your Bulwark Hurst plumber pulls the permit and meets the inspector. Ask any quote you are comparing whether the permit is included.
